Nordsøfonden is Denmark’s third-largest oil and gas producer and plays an important role in the production of Danish oil and gas. Nordsøfonden is a partner in the Danish Underground Consortium (DUC), which accounts for approximately 80% of Denmark’s oil and gas production, as well as in the majority of oil and gas licences awarded after 2005. As Chief of Oil and Gas Business Unit at Nordsøfonden, Tanja Dalgaard will have strategic and professional responsibility for Nordsøfonden’s oil and gas activities.
CEO Flemming Horn Nielsen welcomes Tanja Dalgaard’s appointment:
“It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Tanja Dalgaard will be joining Nordsøfonden as Chief of Oil and Gas Business Unit. Tanja has extensive experience in the energy sector gained over many years, including more than 15 years of experience in managing oil and gas licences. Tanja will therefore bring significant and important expertise to the management of Nordsøfonden,” says Nordsøfonden CEO Flemming Horn Nielsen.
Tanja Dalgaard most recently held the position of Executive Director at the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping. She has more than 25 years of international management experience from the energy and shipping sectors and has previously held a number of senior positions at INEOS, Ørsted and DONG Energy, with responsibility for, among other things, business, strategy and portfolio management. She holds a degree in Geology from Aarhus University and began her career as a geologist and offshore expedition leader at the state-owned Greenlandic oil and gas company Nunaoil.
“I am very much looking forward to taking up the position as Chief of Nordsøfonden’s Oil and Gas Business Unit. With its broad portfolio, Nordsøfonden plays a central role in Denmark’s energy supply. First and foremost, I will focus on continuing the constructive cooperation with the operators in the licences and with Nordsøfonden’s many partners. Given its unique role, Nordsøfonden has an important role to play in the individual licences, but also a particular opportunity to to take a broader perspective and focus on synergies, sustainability initiatives and value maximisation. I look forward to contributing to this,” says Tanja Dalgaard.
Nordsøfonden’s management team now complete
With the appointment of Tanja Dalgaard, the final position in Nordsøfonden’s management team has now been filled. Søren Reinhold Poulsen took up the position as Chief of Nordsøfonden’s newly established CCS Business Unit on 1 September 2026, while Michael Lund Jensen will take up the position as new Chief Financial Officer on 1 November 2026. Together with Chief Technical Officer Kenneth Jensen and CEO Flemming Horn Nielsen, they make up Nordsøfonden’s new management team.
Nordsøfonden is Denmark’s third-largest oil and gas producer and has been responsible for the state’s participation in CO2 storage licences since 2022. The expanded portfolio, and not least the increased complexity of the tasks involved, means that Nordsøfonden is currently strengthening its organisation.
