On 1 July 2026, Flemming Horn Nielsen will take up the position as new CEO of Nordsøfonden. Flemming Horn Nielsen is 60 years old and holds an MSc in Engineering from 1989. He has spent 30 years in the oil and gas industry, having held positions with Mærsk, Ørsted and Ineos.
Chairman of the Board Christian Frigast looks forward to welcoming the new CEO:
“It is a pleasure to announc that Flemming Horn Nielsen will join as CEO of Nordsøfonden on 1 July. He brings with him extensive leadership and industry experience built over the past 36 years, which will be of great benefit to Nordsøfonden.”
Flemming Horn Nielsen’s time in the oil and gas industry has included work on offshore drilling platforms in the North Sea as well as international assignments in Qatar, the Netherlands and England. For a number of years, Flemming served as country manager for Ørsted’s oil and gas business in Denmark. Over the past six years, he has been CEO of a utility company as well as a plastics sorting company.

Flemming Horn Nielsen succeeds Adrian Lübbert, who stepped down as CEO on 31 March 2026 to take up a position as Director at the Danish Energy Agency. Until Flemming Horn joins, the CEO responsibilities are being carried out by board member Christian Herskind.
